After spending a good part of my kid’s soccer game last weekend discussing a fellow parent’s frustrations over one of their stalled home improvement projects, I came home in a fit with more sour for the industry than stats on my son’s game.
Me: That’s crazy, Eli’s dad can’t get the project to move because no one will call him back. He’s being ghosted. Do you think he knows it? Why do contractors ghost people?
Andy: You really want to know what I think.
Me: Yes!
Andy: #1 They aren’t interested in the project #2 They don’t think they have the money to do the project #3 They don’t know how to say ‘NO’.
My head was spinning and we weren’t even to the story problem yet. You see, Eli’s dad had him over to look at and discuss the project scope, the contractor gave him a number and then POOF he hasn’t returned a call, text or email.
